Rash of ADSL disconnects

Over the past 2-3 weeks, coincidentally during the CRTC UBB hearings, we've had a handful of customers report frequent disconnections with their ADSL lines. When we would dig into things, nothing looked out of the ordinary: line heath, modem, router all good. After a few days of instability, the problem goes away.

After a few of these incidences, we're willing to declare a trend... but that doesn't really help anyone.

It's also notable that this is the time of year where violent thunderstorms occur and lightning strikes power, phone and cable lines. It happens quite a bit. We've got both cable and DSL modems on hand/in stock.

New CPE hardware

We've got a new supplier of cable modems, which is going to reduce that $200 setup fee dramatically, probably to about $100 if not a little less.

Also, we've got a few Ubiquiti AirRouters on hand too, these are fantastic routers with 802.11N wireless too - We're selling them at $85+tax - and they're going fast! Our first shipment arrived on Friday morning, and by Sunday morning we were sold out. The plan is to start offering these as a bundled setup package too. If you'd like to get your hands on one, just send us a note and we'll courier it out immediately.

And the rumors are true, we have a new website actually coming soon, and it looks good. Really good.

Stay tuned...

Unexpected PPPoE Router Reboot

This evening our main PPPoE/ADSL/FTTx router rebooted itself, we don't know why yet.

We have a warm spare, however the time required to switch over was more than waiting out the restart and subsequent filesystem checks of the primary.

We will post an update as things progress.
