ADSL Router & E-Mail Server Maintenance Tonight Sorry for the short notice, but starting around 2008-11-23 23:00 till about 2008-11-24 03:00 we'll be upgrading both the ADSL Routers and one of the mail servers. The ADSL outage should be fairly brief, but the mail server will take a little while.

CRTC denies CAIP application, but will examine Internet traffic management practices
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) today announced that it has denied the Canadian Association of Internet Providersí (CAIP) request that Bell Canada cease the traffic-shaping practices it has adopted for its wholesale Gateway Access Service. However, in the future, Bell Canada will be required to notify its wholesale customers at least 30 days in advance of making changes that impact on the performance of its Gateway Access Service.

Read the full CRTC release here.

We here at Server North are definitely disappointed, although not entirely surprised.

ADSL Maintenance Thursday Morning We saw something go awry last night for a handful of ADSL customers, we suspect something on their network failed, subsequently they've called for a maintenance window:

2008-11-13 0000 to 2008-11-13 0630

If you don't need your connection overnight, we recommend turning off your modem & router for the duration.
